A Message About our Lifelong Learner Scholarship

The Lifelong Learner Scholarship at Seven Peaks School recognizes students who exemplify the values of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Learner Profile—traits like curiosity, resilience, and compassion. This scholarship is designed to celebrate and support students who demonstrate a commitment to learning, both in and beyond the classroom, and who actively contribute to their communities. By offering this opportunity, we aim to inspire and empower young learners to embrace a lifelong journey of growth, inquiry, and leadership.

To be considered for the Lifelong Learner Scholarship, applicants should reflect on the 10 IB learner traits (10 essential traits that guide our students toward becoming compassionate, curious, and resilient lifelong learners), and choose one that they feel they exemplify.

Applicants should craft a thoughtful response of 3-5 paragraphs, providing meaningful examples of how they live out their chosen trait. To provide a rare opportunity for handwriting, our review team (made up of staff and faculty), asks that applicants hand write their final answers for review. Be sure to write legibly and know that the review team appreciates and encourages original student voices and thoughtful reflection. Parents may assist with editing for coherence, but the student’s voice and perspective should remain central.

A student’s application should be supported by a reference from an adult in the community who can attest to the applicant’s practice of their chosen learner trait. Seven Peaks teachers should not serve as a reference, as we’re looking for a reference from the community.

Priority will be given to families who have not previously received the Lifelong Learner Scholarship, as our goal is to recognize and support new recipients who exemplify the spirit of lifelong learning. The total award is 50% of 2026-2026 tuition ($9929.50). The scholarship will be awarded to two students:
1. One PYP student (rising 3rd through 5th grade)
2. One MYP student (rising 6th through 8th grade)

Students are also encouraged to enhance their submission with photos, sketches, or other visuals that complement their narrative, offering a creative lens into their impact and engagement with their community.

Scholarship applications will be evaluated:

By a Scholarship Committee made up of Admin and IB Coordinators.
After an in-person interview with one of our committee members.
On the depth of reflection and authenticity in representing the selected IB Learner Profile trait.
On the strength and specificity of examples provided by the student’s reference, including how well the reference knows the applicant.
On the student’s ability to connect their chosen Learner Profile trait to their contributions outside the classroom.

This scholarship award is an opportunity for students to showcase their growth, leadership, and commitment to lifelong learning. We look forward to reading each unique submission and celebrating the ways our students bring the IB philosophy to life.

Health Protocols

To help keep our school community healthy, please keep your child home if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms or conditions. Return-to-school guidelines are listed for each item.

Fever and Cough

1. Fever
Temperature equal to or greater than 100.4°F (oral).

May return after: Being fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.

2. Cough
A persistent cough that has not been diagnosed and cleared by a licensed healthcare provider, or any acute (non-chronic) cough that is frequent or severe enough to interfere with participation in normal school activities.

May return after: Symptoms have been improving for 24 hours (no cough or cough is well-controlled).

Difficulty Breathing

Headache, Vomiting, Skin Rash and others

4. Headache with Stiff Neck and Fever

May return after: Being fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication and symptoms have resolved.
This combination may indicate a serious condition. Medical attention is strongly advised.

5. Diarrhea
Three or more watery or loose stools in a 24-hour period, sudden onset of loose stools, or inability to control bowel function when previously able.

May return after:
• Diarrhea has resolved for 24 hours, or
• Being seen and cleared by a licensed healthcare provider or local public health authority (LPHA), if required.

6. Vomiting
Two or more unexplained episodes of vomiting.

May return after:
• 24 hours since the last episode, or
• Being seen and cleared by a healthcare provider or per school nurse discretion.

7. Skin Rash or Sores
New or undiagnosed rash, rash increasing in size, new sores or wounds developing daily, or any draining rash/sores that cannot be fully covered with a bandage.

May return after:
• Rash has resolved,
• Sores or wounds are dry or can be completely covered, or
• Being seen and cleared by a licensed healthcare provider.

8. Eye Redness and Drainage
Unexplained redness of one or both eyes, colored drainage, eye irritation with vision changes, or symptoms that prevent participation in school activities (pain, swelling, excessive tearing).

May return after:
• Symptoms resolve, or
• Being evaluated by a licensed healthcare provider and treatment has begun.

Eye redness alone, without colored drainage, may be considered for attendance based on CDC guidelines and school nurse assessment.

9. Jaundice
New or unusual yellowing of the skin or eyes.

May return after: Being seen and cleared by a licensed healthcare provider.

10. Behavior Change
Includes unusual lethargy, decreased alertness, irritability, confusion, or any change that prevents participation in school activities.

May return after:
• Symptoms resolve and behavior returns to normal, or
• Being seen and cleared by a licensed healthcare provider.

This may indicate a serious condition. Medical attention is recommended.

11. Major Health Event or Need for Additional Care
May include:
• Illness lasting longer than two weeks
• Emergency room visit or hospital stay
• Surgery affecting participation or vital signs
• New or changed health condition requiring specialized care

May return after: Health and safety concerns are addressed.

Written instructions from a licensed healthcare provider may be required. Schools will follow state and federal regulations, including ADA and FAPE guidelines, to support appropriate accommodations.

12. Lice (Live Bugs Present)

May return after: A lice treatment shampoo (pediculicide) has been applied per instructions and no live lice are present.
(Refer to district lice procedures in English or Spanish.)

13. Strep Throat

May return after: 24 hours of antibiotic treatment and symptoms are improving.

Illness Protocol

Illnesses: If a student is ill, please call or email the front office as soon as possible to notify us of the absence so we can alert teachers.

For the protection of all, if any of the following signs and symptoms are present, your child should be kept at home for at least 24 hours after the last sign or symptom:

Elevated temperature (100.0°or higher)
Diarrhea
Persistent headache
Inflamed or sore throat
Nausea or vomiting
Unexplained rash
Wheezing
Earache
Pink or red eye(s)

Communicable Diseases: Students with communicable diseases or conditions must report them to the school at once. This includes but is not limited to: chicken pox, head lice, impetigo, pink eye/conjunctivitis, ringworm, scabies, scarlet fever, strep throat, or fifth disease.

When the school becomes aware students have been exposed to a communicable disease, the school will make every effort to contact the families of the exposed students.

Students may only return to class following the resolution of a communicable disease with a doctor’s note verifying the student has fully recovered and is no longer contagious.

Medication: All nonprescription and prescription medications must be brought to the school office in original containers. A medical inventory sheet must be completed and signed by the parent or legal guardian giving information about the medication, frequency, times of administration, name and phone number of the physician prescribing the medication, and a parent's signature authorizing the office staff to administer the medication.

Students must not bring medications with them to class; this includes any over-the-counter drugs such as cough drops, aspirin, etc.

CELL PHONES AND SMART WATCHES

Cell Phone Use by Students

As a general policy, students may not use cell phones or cell phone linked smart watches or other similar devices during school hours. Phones and accompanying watches must remain turned off and be stored in a student’s locker or in the school office. Individual teachers may elect to allow students to use smartphones within classrooms as an instructional tool only. In these cases special arrangements will be made and clear parameters for use will be communicated to both students and administrative staff. Exceptions to these rules must go through the front office. Cell phone use on field trips and other school sponsored events will be handled on a case by case basis. Students who fail to comply with this policy will be required to leave their phone or device in the office and parents will be notified. The phone will be released in person to a parent or guardian.

DRESS CODE

STUDENT DRESS REQUIREMENTS

Student Dress Requirements: Students must wear appropriate clothing that is comfortable, clean and in good repair. Clothing should be safe and allow students to focus their attention and the attention of others on learning and school activities. Clothing that in any way distracts from the educational goals of the school is subject to prohibition.

● No distinction will be made in our dress code requirements that would establish different standards for different genders.
● No articles of clothing may contain obscene, offensive or distracting messages.
● Clothing must conform with a traditional school environment. Older children should be aware that they are models for younger children in the school.
● Any clothing that is too revealing or that distracts from the instructional integrity of the classroom is prohibited. These general rules may be adjusted based on the judgment of school staff. Parent and guardian support of the administration’s judgment on these matters is appreciated and expected.
● Clothing that fails to cover undergarments is not allowed.
● Students should come to school with warm coats, gloves, hats, and boots during the winter months to participate in explorations, extended field trips, outdoor time with class, and recess.
● Shoes must be worn at all times.

Athletic shoes are required for PE (no sandals or black soled shoes allowed). Primary students may not wear flip flops to school. The school shall make the sole determination if a student is in violation of the dress code. Violations will result in the student being asked to call home for appropriate clothing, wear P.E. clothes, or use t-shirts provided in the main office.
