Window into Our Community: A Snapshot of Seven Peaks School's IB Journey

What has this new school year brought so far?

As we kick off another exciting school year, our Seven Peaks community is buzzing with activity, from hands-on learning experiences in the classroom to enriching adventures outside of it. Our journey through the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework guides everything we do, ensuring that every student grows academically, socially, and emotionally in a nurturing and challenging environment.

Pre-Kindergarten: Learning About Ourselves and Others
In Pre-K, our youngest learners are diving into the exciting world of self-discovery. Through play and interaction, they are learning how to be with others, recognize and express their feelings—both big and small—and build foundational social skills. Additionally, they’re being introduced to the basics of Spanish with Miss Felicia, sparking curiosity and early language development in a fun, interactive way. Hola, amigos!

Second Grade Math Spotlight
In second grade, students are diving into their first unit of the Dimensions Math curriculum. This unit focuses on developing strong number sense, particularly with numbers from 1 to 1,000. Over the next two weeks, they will explore strategies for understanding and manipulating these numbers. Families can reinforce this at home through simple activities, like counting exercises or comparing numbers. Additionally, students will be introduced to IXL, an online math platform designed to support their learning. During this time, I will also be conducting assessments to ensure that each child is progressing at their own pace.

Middle School Adventures
Our 7th and 8th graders recently embarked on two exciting trips that brought learning to life in unique ways. The first was a visit to East Lake, where students explored natural ecosystems, enhancing their understanding of environmental science through hands-on experiences.

This was followed by a trip to Ashland, Oregon, for the renowned Shakespeare Festival. They had the privilege of watching two classic plays, Macbeth and Much Ado About Nothing, sparking engaging discussions on themes of ambition, power, love, and deception.

Introducing the Drama Club Middle School Adventures

We are thrilled to announce the formation of our new Drama Club, led by our incredibly talented PYP Performing Arts teacher, Clayton Pearce. “I am absolutely over the moon about this wonderful and balanced group of students, representing every grade level from 3rd through 8th. The club also features a great mix of genders, providing a well-rounded and dynamic environment for our budding performers,” Mr. Pearce said.

The newly-formed Drama Club gathers in costume.

These experiences are just the beginning of our exciting year ahead, filled with opportunities that foster both academic growth and personal development. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to explore and grow together!
