The Importance of Our IB Coordinators at Seven Peaks School

Leadership and Support at Seven Peaks

At Seven Peaks School, the success of our International Baccalaureate (IB) program is deeply rooted in the dedication and expertise of our IB Coordinators. These leaders ensure that our students receive a world-class education that aligns with the IB’s rigorous standards, fostering global-mindedness and academic excellence.

Hope Royes: Guiding the Middle Years Programme (MYP)

Hope Royes has been the cornerstone of our Middle Years Programme (MYP) since 2010. With over a decade of experience as our MYP Coordinator, Hope brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and commitment to her role. As both a leader and a teacher, she plays a critical part in shaping the academic and personal development of our students during these pivotal years.

Hope's dual role as an MYP Coordinator and art instructor uniquely positions her to influence our students’ learning experiences. Her leadership extends beyond administrative responsibilities; she actively engages with students in the classroom, where her artistic expertise fosters creativity and self-expression. Under her guidance, the MYP curriculum at Seven Peaks seamlessly integrates interdisciplinary learning, critical thinking, and global perspectives, ensuring that our students are not only well-prepared academically but also culturally aware and empathetic individuals.

Hope’s ability to blend leadership with hands-on teaching exemplifies the IB philosophy, where learning is a shared journey between educators and students. Her impact on our school community is profound, as she continuously strives to enhance the quality of education and support our students in becoming lifelong learners.

Samantha Lyke: Leading the Primary Years Programme (PYP)

Samantha Lyke (or Sammy), our Primary Years Programme (PYP) Coordinator, has been an IB Coordinator for six years and this is her third at Seven Peaks. With a background in teaching IB in Austria since 2013, Sammy brings a global perspective and a deep understanding of the IB framework to her role. Her experience abroad enriches our school community, providing our youngest learners with a foundation that emphasizes inquiry-based learning, international-mindedness, personal development, and delicious Austrian treats.

As the PYP Coordinator, Sammy is responsible for ensuring that the curriculum for our pre-k through 5th graders aligns with IB’s core principles. Her leadership is instrumental in creating a nurturing environment where students are encouraged to explore, question, and grow. She works closely with teachers to design and implement engaging learning experiences that challenge students to think critically and creatively.

Sammy’s approach to education is holistic, focusing on the development of the whole child. Her commitment to fostering a love of learning in our youngest students sets the stage for their future academic success. By guiding our primary educators and inspiring our students, Sammy's plays a vital role in shaping the next generation of global citizens.
