INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE LEARNER PROFILE TRAITS

At Seven Peaks School, we believe that education is about more than just academics. It's about shaping students into thoughtful, compassionate, and curious people who are ready to lead and make a difference in the world. This is the heart of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Learner Profile.

The IB Learner Profile is a set of ten attributes that define what it means to be a successful learner and a responsible global citizen. These traits are not just ideas we talk about—they are lived every day in our classrooms, hallways, and playgrounds. Here's a closer look at each trait, and how our students embody them:

1. Inquirers
Our Pre-K students ask questions that spark joy and exploration: "Why do clouds move?" "Can we build a bridge that floats?" Inquiry leads their learning, from hands-on science to storytelling.

2. Knowledgeable
In 2nd grade, students dive deep into ecosystems, building models and presenting their findings to the class. They connect learning across subjects and develop a solid foundation of understanding.

3. Thinkers
In MYP math, our 7th graders are challenged to solve real-world problems with creative reasoning. Whether they're calculating for sustainability projects or exploring geometry through architecture, critical thinking is front and center.

4. Communicators
Fifth graders present capstone projects with poise and clarity, sharing ideas in both English and Spanish. From group discussions to digital storytelling, they learn to listen and be heard.

5. Principled
Middle schoolers lead by example, showing integrity in group work and courage in standing up for what's right. We see principled action when students take ownership of their mistakes and commit to doing better.

6. Open-Minded
During a 3rd grade unit on global cultures, students reflect on their own traditions while celebrating others'. They explore holidays around the world, interview family members, and learn how diverse perspectives make our world stronger.

7. Caring
This week, first grade will finish their research on a sustainable farm and create a poster to show their information and draw a picture of that farm. Once we finish that summative project, we will reflect on our learning in our final unit! Our field trip to Well Rooted will also be a great opportunity to learn about sustainable farming, as that is an important practice for them.

8. Risk-Takers
Our 6th grade trip to the Cochiti Reservation in New Mexico is a shining example of this trait. Students step into new environments, connect with different cultures, and embrace challenges that expand their comfort zones.

9. Balanced
From mindfulness moments in PYP to Wintermester outdoor adventures, we teach students to care for their minds, bodies, and relationships. Balance is encouraged through movement, arts, and time for reflection.

10. Reflective
Students keep journals, review their learning goals, and give thoughtful peer feedback. At all grade levels, they are encouraged to pause, look inward, and celebrate both growth and grit.

These ten traits are more than a checklist; they are the heartbeat of our school culture. By nurturing these attributes from Pre-K through 8th grade, we prepare our students not only for academic success but for meaningful lives filled with purpose, connection, and impact.

At Seven Peaks, the IB Learner Profile isn't just something we teach—it's something we live.
