Academics

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a worldwide network of schools committed to creating a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Students in IB programs think critically, ask challenging questions, and consider both local and global contexts.

As the only IB Pre-K through Grade 8 school in Bend*, Seven Peaks uses the IB as a framework for delivering standards and curriculum. The IB is an integral piece in fulfilling our school’s mission to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who can thrive in a complex world.

*Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme or the IB Career-related Certificate (IBCC).  For further information about the IB and its programmes, visit www.ibo.org

student-led conferences: Empowering students

At Seven Peaks School, we believe in fostering student agency, reflection, and ownership of learning. That’s why we use Student-Led Conferences (SLCs) as a meaningful way for students to showcase their growth and achievements.

Unlike traditional parent-teacher conferences, SLCs put students at the center of the conversation. With guidance from their teachers, students prepare to reflect on their progress, set goals, and present their learning journey to their families. This process encourages self-awareness, confidence, and accountability—important skills that align with our International Baccalaureate (IB) framework.

What to Expect in a Student-Led Conference:

  • Student Ownership: Your child will guide the discussion, sharing work samples, reflections, and areas of growth.
  • Reflection & Goal-Setting: Students assess their strengths and challenges, discussing their learning journey with a forward-thinking mindset.
  • Teacher Support: Teachers facilitate and support, ensuring students have the tools they need to lead the conversation effectively.
  • Family Engagement: Parents play an active role by listening, asking questions, and celebrating their child’s progress.
