Curriculum
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
As the only Core Knowledge school east of the Cascades, Seven Peaks uses a systematic approach to teaching language arts, history, geography, mathematics and science. We encourage enduring knowledge in these key subject areas, integrating music and the arts to enhance learning.
Here’s a sample of our major elementary school topics:
Early Civilizations The Constitution
The Renaissance Electricity
Pre-algebra Sculpture
Geometry
Drums, Keyboards and Vocals
Classification of Living Things
Geography might show children the world, but only character development will help them find their place in it. We use the Core Virtues program to immerse children in stories that challenge their minds and open their hearts to the importance of compassion, character and contributions.
With family volunteerism and an environment that’s positive, secure and nurturing, Seven Peaks provides a strong foundation for success.
TECHNOLOGY
The use of technology in the classroom supports our focus on college preparatory curriculum. Our program is designed to facilitate academic growth as well as to give students a comprehensive understanding of technological tools. We have several classroom sets of computers and projectors for both the elementary and the middle school. Beginning in third grade students regularly create PowerPoint presentations, use Geometry Sketchpad in math classes, learn to use Excel including writing macros, and use keyboarding and word processing programs. Computer use at home is integral as well - students use on-line learning tools and our school website to stay in touch with their teachers and assignments. Ultimately, Seven Peaks is dedicated to enacting the philosophy of an integrated and dynamic technology program within the classroom.
